A sophisticated, sporty design along with the space and capabilities of a traditional SUV are all offered in a compact package. The Kia Seltos not only looks much bigger than its closest competitors, but is easily one of the largest and most practical compact SUVs available on the market today.
Upfront striking headlamps that endow it with a sporty, confident visage flank the wide tiger nose grille. Higher specification models feature chrome detailing along the window line that ends in a flourish on the C-pillar, creating the impression of a floating roof. At the rear the bumper features a three-dimensional surface treatment with an integrated metallic-look skid plate as well as a dual chrome muffler finish.
All models feature LED daytime running lights as well as front fog lamps. On higher specification models, fog lamps, combination lamps.
The interior is characterised by broad, sweeping shapes with various technical design details. The driver’s seating position is comfortable and offers a commanding view of the road ahead. Specification varies depending on the derivative but as a minimum it includes air conditioning, steering wheel mounted controls, electric windows, cruise control and an eight-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system that incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Seltos is available with a variety of engine options. The 1.6-litre Gamma engine offers 90kW and 151Nm and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The 1.4-litre T-GDI develops 103kW and 242Nm of torque from as low down as 1 500rpm. This engine is available exclusively with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, which aids performance and efficiency.
The Seltos CRDI is powered by Kia’s new generation 1.5-litre UII common-rail direct injection engine, featuring a variable geometry turbocharger. The result is 86kW and 250Nm between 1 500 and 2 750rpm.
The Seltos features a variety of active and passive safety systems that ensure that occupants are protected in the event of an accident or collision. All models are equipped with six airbags as well as Isofix child seat anchors, ABS brakes and EBD as well as rear park distance control sensors and a reverse camera, integrated into the touchscreen infotainment system. EX+ and GT-Line derivatives also feature Electronic Stability Control and Hill-start Assist Control.
